First Men Help Children’s Home The
men accomplished three main efforts at the Leigh Cottages,
a UM boy’s home. 1.
They assisted in pulling nails out of “redos” to save 2 by 4’s and
2 by 6’s from the trash pile, so that they could be used again.
All efforts are being made to be efficient in the rebuild.
2. They built two sections
of a wall to divide two large areas within the ground floor of the building.
3. They put in place several
“perlins. Perlins are pieces of
wood nailed between the vertical wall framing boards, these are typically 2 by
4’s, to both keep these boards strengthened against side stress if the
building shifts and also to provide solid framing sections of a wall where
cabinets, bookcases, and other items will need to be wall anchored when the time
comes for their installation. Huge
thanks to all of the men from Suwanee First who gave of their time to help these
children.
